Bhairaja Panday has served as a UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) representative for 28 years, leading humanitarian missions in Thailand, Pakistan, Iran, South Sudan, Somalia, Egypt, Angola, Afghanistan, and Myanmar.
Currently, he is involved in various sectors of Nepal, serving as the president of Rotary Club of Kathmandu Mid-Town, Managing Director of Invest Nepal, a Lecturer in International Law and a political and policy advisor.
Bhairaja started his adult life in Kathmandu in the early 70s as a student activist, a sports coach, and a social activist before moving on to become a lawyer and a law lecturer at Tribhuvan University. He holds a Master’s degree from Yale Law School.
In this interview, we ask him for his advice on how the youths of Nepal can become aware, active and engaged global citizens.
